Better Call Saul Review

If you are a fan of Breaking Bad, you will fall in love with Better Call Saul by the end of the first episode. Much like the first episode of Breaking bad, it was a slow start. When I first started watching Breaking Bad, I will admit, I wasn't very interested. With in a few episodes I was hooked. With Better Call Saul, it happened a lot quicker for me.

The beginning of the first episode is showcased in black and white with a song like reminded me a lot of Bio Shock. “If I’m lucky, in a month from now, best-case scenario, I’m managing a Cinnabon in Omaha.” - That was a quote from Breaking Bad which was said by Saul himself. To no surprise to the fans, that is exactly where it starts. He is working behind the counter of a Cinnabon. He shows signs of paranoia as the intro continues. At this point, I realized this is what happened after Walter White died.

Cutting to the past, it starts off with Jimmy McGill (aka Saul) working as a dead beat lawyer for criminals who couldn't afford legal advice or coverage in the local courthouse. His true form is shown strong in the first episode making me remember why I loved him so much in Breaking Bad. As it progresses, I recognize another favorite character of mine, though there is no relationship between him and Saul just yet. I wont say who it is, you will have to watch for yourself! A few great points of the first episode is how it is set up to lead into the whole Breaking Bad story line. It is going to take some time, but we will be seeing many characters from the Breaking Bad series and I look forward to that. By the end of the first episode I am hooked because I recognized someone else I had really enjoyed as a “villain” in the first two seasons of Breaking Bad. I almost jumped up out of excitement! I knew I had to see the next episode which followed Monday night.

At this point, I am already hooked and I can assure you, the second episode delivers! You can tell this first season is going to get intense very fast and I look forward to seeing how Jimmy McGill becomes Saul Goodman. Before the second episode ends, you get a taste of the infamous Saul coming out of Jimmy. If I wasn't a fan of Breaking Bad or I didn't watch Breaking Bad, I don't think I would enjoy this show as much as I do. If you never watched Breaking Bad, watch that first! Also, in case you missed it or you hate commercials like I do, you can watch every episode as it airs on AMC's website. You will have 30 days for each one where no log in is required. I have only seen the first two episodes and I am already giving this show 5 stars. Don't miss out on it!
